![]() ![]() Now, I realize I'm talking mostly about the game's graphics. All of this in full 1920x1080 glory, as I'm playing on my HDTV (comfy couch wins again!) The market pavilions ripple and wave as if a light breeze is pushing through, and a lonely lumberjack cuts away at his forest to provide to his fellow man. Little touches like hearing the wind rush past my ears as the camera rose above the clouds, or watching my peasants perform their daily tasks with a surprising amount of detail and fluidity to their movements. I wasn't sure if it was the scale, or the detail. I loaded up the game, started a continuous game, and it wasn't long before the game totally blew me away. I wanted to test my rig to see how well it would run the game with everything cranked to full. First, I knew how mindblowingly beautiful it was. I picked up Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery in the States) for two reasons. This gave me time to go back and play games I'd missed in the last couple years. When I finally built it, I realized a lot of those games wouldn't be out for a while. I stuck to console games, and it worked out for the most part. It would be the first time I would use a laptop over a desktop. After I graduated, I got a job in Japan, and elected to go with a midrange laptop for simplicity's sake. ![]() The last time I built a gaming PC was for Doom 3, back when I was in college. ![]() I've been out of PC gaming for a few years now. ![]()
